Being adaptive of the ongoing technologies can boost the efficiency and produce a more refined outcomes  Malaysian government journey towards digital transformation begun with the launching of Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) in 1996 with multiple policy evolution on ICT development after MSC. With the launching of Malaysia's Digital Economy Blueprint in 2021, it is the government effort to transform Malaysia into a digital economically strong country with the current trend digitally driven world economic growth.

With government sectors leading the effort towards digitalization, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) will be the sole agency to push the transformation agenda. Within Sarawak, the Sarawak government has launched Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy which aims to improve Sarawak economic growth through the digital transformation of various anchor economic sectors. The economic anchor sectors are supported by various other enabler sectors such as digital infrastructure and cyber-security. Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) was established to facilitate the development of Sarawak Digital Economy.
